The Japan International
Cooperation Agency (JICA) and National Economics Univ (NEU) hosted two
workshops (textile & garment, software) and three policy consultations
(steel (MOI, VSC), tariffs (MOF), and electronics (MPT)) in Hanoi late
March. Vice Ministers of MOI and MPT, and NEU rector/vice rectors took
part in the workshops where Prof. K. Ohno acted as a chairperson.
These
discussions were part of our effort to improve analysis and policy
proposals as Vietnam liberalizes trade through AFTA, USBTA and WTO. From
now on, we will summarize policy proposals so far and will hold another
round of policy discussions in September 2003. For the current summary
