Izumi
Ohno is Professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy
Studies (GRIPS).
She specializes in international development strategy, economic
development, and Japan’s ODA policy. She holds a MPA from the
Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at the
Princeton University in USA.
Prior
to joining GRIPS (in 2002), she worked at the Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the World Bank, and the Japan
Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

Kenichi Ohno) Eastern and Western Ideas for African Growth (Routledge,
2013).
Currently, she chairs the advisory committee for the
Japan Inclusive Business Support Center, established by the Ministry
of Trade and Industry, and also serves as a member for the Committee
for Promoting International Cooperation, organized by the Ministry
of Education, Culture and Sports, Science and Technology. In the past, she served as members for the Committee for
International Cooperation and the Committee for ODA Evaluation (the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs), and also led multi-stakeholder,
private discussion groups for renovating Japanese ODA. Since 2009,
she has been involved in JICA-supported intellectual cooperation,
“Japan-Ethiopia industrial policy dialogue,” which aims to share the
East Asian development experiences with senior policymakers in
Ethiopia. She is also research leader of Osaka-based, the
Asia Pacific Institute of Research (APIR).
