Middle income trap lecture at ADB HQ
(17Feb2011) On 31 Jan
2011, Prof. Ohno was invited to Asian Development Bank in Manila as the
first guest speaker of ADB's new Asian Development Policy Lecture Series.
This series will explore new policy areas in which ADB can engage in
middle-income member countries. The topic requested by ADB was the
possibility of Vietnam's middle income trap, an issue Prof. Ohno has
discussed extensively with Vietnamese policy makers in the last three years.
ADB is also interested in middle income traps in Malaysia, China,
Philippines, etc. In May 2011, ADB will organize a panel discussion on
middle income traps in Hanoi on the occasion of ADB's Annual Meeting.

(issued on Nov 2010), written by Junichi Mori, Pham Trung Hoang, and Nguyen
Thi Xuan Thuy.
This survey was conducted from Nov. 2008 to Feb. 2009 to obtain enterprises'
needs on industrial human resource and their perceptions of the quality of TVET institutions. It was supported by domestic and international
organizations including National Economics University (NEU), Hanoi
University of Industry (HaUI), the United Nations Industrial Development
Organization (UNIDO), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and
Hiroshima University.
