Kenichi
Ohno teaches at the National Graduate Institute for
Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo, and directs the Vietnam
Development Forum in Hanoi. His main interest is how
21st century latecomer countries can industrialize under
globalization pressure from the economic as well as
political and social perspectives. He has advised
Vietnam for 15 years and currently conducts regular
policy dialogue with the Ethiopian government. His books
include Dollar and Yen (with Ronald McKinnon, 1997),
East Asian Development Economics (Japanese, with Kojiro
Sakurai, 1997), Japanese Views on Economic Development
(co-edited with Izumi Ohno, 1998), The Economic
Development of Japan: The Path Traveled by Japan as a
Developing Country (2006), The Middle Income Trap:
Implications for Industrialization Strategies in East
Asia and Africa (2009), and Meiji Restoration 1858-1881
(Japanese, with Junji Banno, 2010). He holds a Ph.D. in
Economics from Stanford University. |
